I’m sometimes at a complete loss when asked to articulate my feelings or thoughts on certain films. It’s as if my brain has turned to mush when asked what I thought of La Haine, Winter Light or Y tu Mama Tambien as the credits roll. This is why I often cringe when walking out of a huge blockbuster only to hear people casually say how ‘cool’ it was. I’d like to gather enough courage to stop someone and just ask, ‘Yeah, but how did you feel? Did you feel anything?’ As much as I can appreciate the complexities that go into making a film, I continue to measure my love of a film if it made me feel anything at all.
